Amazon.com Gift Cards

Long time no post! Things have been pretty brutal the past few months so I apologize for the lack of updates. I did find a pretty legit site for earning gift cards and money in your spare time; instagc.

how do i get amazon gift card ?? you may be asking yourself. Just click the link to sign up, you big dummy!

I have already gotten over $50 in cards for Amazon, Steam and other places. You aren't going to become a millionaire overnight by clicking for 5 minutes but if you watch videos, do surveys and offers, you WILL be rewarded. Heck, do it in your spare time or at work. It's definitely real and definitely worth your time. One!!

That's some good ass cheese!

Tried a whole bunch of interesting new shit the previous week or so. Work has been hectic and Bah Zee and I have been feverishly working to try and get the mixtape ready to go. Pretty excited and sooped up for people to listen to it!

A few weeks ago, P and I went to Triumph Brewery in New Hope, PA and I scored a bottle of this:

They only had 1 bottle left of this bottle conditioned sour Belgian ale left and knew we had to get it. A year or two in the cellar would have made this bad boy pretty magical but it was still quite solid as-is. It has a golden, orange ethereal hue on pouring that just looks crazy. Fairly sour with notes of pickled fruit, but with a nice "contrabasso" of sweetness (Haughty Dipshit alert! That's me!) Sorry about the titties on the bottle if you got kids! But if your kids are reading this, you probably have other problems. I would love to get another bottle to cellar but this stuff is hard to find, I'll have to see next time I got to Princeton or New Hope.

Also got some nice ass cheeses. Damn, why didn't you tell me this motherfuckin' cheese was this good!

This week it's No Woman Cow's Milk Cheese from Beecher's in Seattle (and also Flatiron in the city, apparently) along with Cropwell Bishop White Stilton with Cranberries from Nottinghamshire in merry-old England.

The Stilton is just some good ass, creamy, high-moisture content cow's milk cheese with cranberries in it.They don't pierce the cheese with needles like they do typically for a Stilton (which lets air and bacteria in and results in the familiar blue veins and powerful pungence and taste)It's not a tart, dry cranberry like you sometimes find paired with chipotle in cheddar or whatever. If you want to get your serious anglophile on, this would be real good with a scone, not a flavored one, mind, just a dry normal-ass, civilian scone. I would definitely pair this with like a white port or maybe an ice wine, maybe a sauternes or something late harvest, get my shit impressively europed-out. Probably would have been nice with that Sour Belgian Ale from Triumph, too. Really, though, this was just good and I could probably eat a half pound with just crackers or my hands.

The No Woman was interesting. It's a drier, more cheddar like in consistency cow's milk cheese imbued with jerk seasoning and raisins. I didn't know what to expect; I thought it would be really spicy like some authentic jerk, but it was more of a pleasant, nutty, earthy, mildly sweet joint serving a little bit of herbaceousness spice realness. The minute I tried it, I knew it would be incredible with some Guinness Extra Stout and I was right. Luckily, I'm a horrible alcoholic and had a ton! I could also definitely envision this in a turkey-melt type situation on some pumpernickel or marbled rye; will have to investigate. All in all, pretty nice.

We had a chance to go back to Deccan Spice so I could try the Natu Kodi Dum Biryani which they only make on the weekends. I was not disappointed.

There's a half-chicken under that rice that's been stewing in a serious spice game for decent amount of time. In the middle is a hard-boiled egg fried in gram flour; like a Scottish egg type deal, but without the extra accoutrements. This biryani was SPICY which was nice but also unexpected. I am not a pussy when it comes to spicy foods, but there was some definite heat involved. That raita they serve it with is necessary to cool off  some of the heat. This dish was incredible. Between the severe spice level and 8 or 9 bottles of wine, the endorphins were kicking and had me in the zone. I honestly felt high. I would definitely recommend this dish and go back for it.

Looking forward to this weekend where we are going to try the tasting menu at David Burke's Fromagerie in Rumson. Should be a blast and looking forward to eating, drinking and writing about it.

In closing, here is a sweet Nas/Eve/Aaliyah remix from yours truly from the mixtape AQUI
Feel free to follow, comment, harass or just float around like some type of geist. Bless!

Buns, B!

Steaming some pork buns with some garlic sesame bean paste for lunch. Don't hate the player, hate H-Mart for not being near you.

Hyberabad Mamajamma

Went out to eat last night to Deccan Spice, an Indian restaurant specializing in Hyderabadi cuisine from the south of India in Iselin. They have another successful, busy location in Jersey City. Started with the Manchurian Cauliflower which is just really good. Just spicy, oniony, garlicy, wok-crisped deliciousness.  I really wanted to try the Natu Kodi Dum Biryani, which sounds amazing and got a nice write-up in the Village Voice from Robert Sietsema as one of the 100 dishes you have to eat right now but alas you can only get it on the weekends. I instead opted for the Murgh Chetinad Curry which is a favorite as it’s donut hole-scorchingly spicy as balls.

The star anise and cardamom levels were dangerous as hell in this bad boy. I thought I was going in on a piece of chicken and got a crazy mouthful of seed pods. It was still good though. P got the paneer tandoor which was basically a paneer makhni but was really tasty. We rounded it out with some basmati rice and garlic naan.

We got a bottle of  Makedonikos Vaeni semi-dry white from Macedonia.

It’s really fragrant, floral and has a lot of fruits but it’s pressed from red grapes so it still has a tannic edge. Not too sweet. I figured it would be a good match for the spicier, lighter South Indian fare but think it would stand up a lot better with a heartier, richer meal (Maybe pork, or goat which Deccan Spice does really well) due to the tannins. Not bad for five bucks though, honestly.

We got a groupon for $30 worth of food for $15 bucks. After the wine, tip and all, it wasn’t more than $25 for everything, soup to nuts, which was pretty good. The food was good. Not the most amazing indian ever but hit the spot and the price was right. Will definitely have to go back for that Natu Kodi Dum Biryani. That shit looks fantastic.

Ahoy hoy!

Just felt like starting this blog to get out some of my brain droppings and share insights and information about things that are interesting to me. I like to drink, eat, make music, make merry, knock around and fart around. I'll be sharing cool things I've drank or eaten, cool music I've heard or made, cool books I've read and wacky off-the-wall shit that seems to follow me around every day.
